Raise a Glass for Tannery Run Brew Works

Tannery Run Brew Works in Ambler, Pa., opened a brewery and restaurant just one year before the pandemic. Then, just like so many other food and drink establishments in 2020, had to come up with creative and inventive strategies to keep the business operating.
They offered craft beer in cans, set up curbside pickup, added delivery options, and distributed its original, quality brews to local bottle shops. It put its kitchen in “hibernation,” and now looks forward to fully re-opening.
Co-owners Carly Chelder, Tim Brown and Mac Comly started brewing beer together a few years ago, so the brewery existed in spirit for four years. After an enthusiastic welcome from the Ambler community, it’s no surprise that Chelder, Brown and Comly love their location at 131 East Butler Pike, a busy corner on a bustling street. “Ambler is fantastic,” says Chelder. When tables are placed outdoors in nice weather, patrons overlook a popular independent movie theater. “It’s a small town, walkable community.” The Tannery Run waterway actually runs below the lower level and they can sometimes hear the water flowing.
What makes a good brew? “TLC in every step,” says Chelder, who notes that female brewery ownership is “becoming less unusual among indies.” Ingredients that are “sourced with care make the difference,” she says. The Tannery Run Brew Works team is proud of its split batch (“splatch”); a process that yields two customized sister brews from the same base, treated and fermented separately.
Once fully re-opened, it is important to showcase the product in spotless glasses. A dirty glass can compromise a carefully crafted beer’s taste, carbonation and look, so why risk it? That’s where TERMAC comes in, providing cleaning detergents and scheduled maintenance of the dish machine – ensuring a clean glass of brew every time.
It’s important to point out that Tannery Run Brew Works is more than just beer. The restaurant menu goes beyond typical pub fare; there is a children’s menu, and wine on tap too. Raise a (spotless) glass with us and wish Tannery Run Brew Works continued success and a full
re-opening!
